My son Noah has the BEST time playing with my sister Marianne. Whenever she comes to visit, she brings a Fozzy Bear puppet. My son loves it. They (Marianne, Noah and Fozzy) were playing at the kitchen table. Noahs laugh made everyone in the house laugh. Happy Day !
THAT kid on a plane
I travel a lot for my job. That means I spend a lot of time on planes. Before I had kids, I was like most people boarding a plane. You see someone with a baby and pray that you don’t sit anywhere near them. If there was a baby on the plane or an unruly child, people would roll their eyes and start cussing the parent. ”Good Lord! make that kid be quiet”.
Noah started flying...
The Original Wonder Woman
I took a shower today. Actually, I got to take a shower and shave my legs. How did I do it ? My Mom came over and watched Jonah for a bit. This week I have been working out for 2 hrs a day. My body aches and I am in desperate need of a shower every day. If I get to rinse off, I’m lucky.
I have help. My husband is a HUGE help. I have a nanny to watch kids while I work out, my Mom...
Praise Be To The Teacher
Teachers are cut from a special cloth. They have the toughest jobs that requires more pattience and understanding than any other job. They are often not paid a lot and yet are expected to shape the minds of future generations.
My situation is not that intense yet. I have a 3 year old that attends a Non Profit Montessori School here in town. Shaping his education, self care, self reliance and...
I love my job
It starts at Home
My son attends a wonderful school. We attend a loving church. The people that are around him are positive, encouraging and very kind.
You can send your kid to the kindest play school or the most loving church, but, if the parents of the other children ignore their kids or let them watch television thats not age appropriate, your kids will be exposed to stuff you normally wouldn’t want...

Persistent or Relentless ?
Persistence with a three year may have it’s downside. Say in the case of the cookie. My Son is not big on sweets. Though occasionally, he will ask for something. ( He never finishes it). When I am in this type of situation with him, It leads me to ask, “Is my 3 year old persistent or relentless?”
“Mom, can I have a cookie, please?”
“Lets wait until after...
A Waste of Technology
I got an Iphone 4S because I saw a friend of mines music video that she recorded on her IPhone. With the 4S there are several applications and options that help with my scheduling, navigation, weather to monitor outdoor shows. It’s quite handy. My favorite use of this phone is the camera. It takes amazing pictures and video. I can send them or save them at the touch of a button.

We are Thankful ....
My son has this little prayer they say at his Montessori School as “thanks” before they eat. It is so simple, but, so true…
We are thankful for the food before us
We are thankful for the friends beside us
We are thankful for the love among us
We are thankful

My husband got this mat for Jonah. It’s so awesome. The specific one is Baby Einstein. I think they are all pretty cool. If you get one, just be sure its safe. ;-)

It's A Mans World !!! ( hand me my soap box )
When I was pregnant with Jonah, I made it clear to my booking agency that I wanted to spend 2012 on the ground, in the bus. I didn’t want to fly an infant and a 3 year old all over the country. My request apparently fell on deaf ears. I’m about to log more flight miles than Neil Armstrong. (Unless they fix this HORRIFIC routing).
Last week I was in a conversation with a guy in...

Propping the Bottle ? GUILTY !!!
I’m sorry. But, YES!!! I do it. Not very often. There are those few times when the baby is hungry and the rest of the house is in an uproar, that, I have the need to prop the bottle. Jonah is just 12 weeks old and still can’t hold the bottle himself. So I fold his blanket just right so I can rest the bottle on it and he gets fed.
I’m not sure why, but, when I do this I...

HOW TO GET KIDS TO SLEEP IN THEIR OWN BED
Our 3 year old has been climbing into bed the last few nights. We are NOT a “family bed” household. We will gather to watch a movie as a special treat, but, don’t want the kids coming into bed with us at night. I asked Kate How I should handle this…

Hows it Going ? Baby Weight be Gone
I started a really strict food plan to get the baby weight off. Some of the recipes are based on ”Tracy Anderson’s 30 Day Method”. ( Tracy is the trainer for Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna )
I will take you with me on this journey checking in periodically. The toughest part about the plan so far? No food after Dinner. I never thought about it before, but, I guess I used to...

Yell It From the Rooftop
OK! At some point about 2 months ago, I came to terms with the fact that sleep was something I would have to learn to live without. Jonah would be up until 10:30PM, then wake up at 1:30am, 3:30am, 5am, then Noah would get up at 6am. Some days I wondered why we even went to bed at all. Exhaustion is simply a way of life. Getting through the day is usually a blur.
The night before last, I...

Kate's Corner
Kate Riley is a Montessori Trained Teacher as well as Head of Holy Trinity Montessori School. She is the daughter of a “Traditional” teacher in a family with a long line of teachers. SHE is the one I go to for “expert” advice. This section lets YOU have access to her knowledge as well. Enjoy !
We got to go to the ocean this weekend. LOTS of sunscreen
Men, Women, Venus, Mars
I know I have refferenced the “man curse” a couple of times. Yesterday I saw the author of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, on TV. He had a segment about chores. I never realized this, but, I found he was pretty much right. He said to communicate is important. Women need to let men know what is expected with chores. For example, let them know that, doing the dishes means...
Noah has found something new to entertain himself. (The voice you hear is my Mother)
Tornado Alley
I never really think of myself as a “Mom”. I’m Jo Dee and I have 2 kids. Moms seem to be older, in my mind. More sure of things. Possess all the answers. I’m just fumbling through things. (hence the name of this blog).
The “Mom” thing kicked in yesterday. We were in Missouri and under a tornado watch. Right before they opened doors, our nanny took the...
Favorite Part of My Days
Lately, I think the favorite part of my day, is when we go pick up our 3 year old from school. His memory is amazing and his sentences are getting so much longer and contain a great deal of information. Yesterday on the way home from school he said “One more school Mama.” ”One more school?” I asked. ”Yeah. One more school and then we get on the bus.” My...
A Doting Dad
It is so beautiful to see a man that truly loves his kids. My husband is such a great Dad. I am very blessed

Why Do Our Kids Hate Us ?
As I mentioned in my posts recently, I haven’t been getting a lot of sleep. The baby has us up several times throughout the night. I think it’s taking its toll. Being a bit run down, I now have a cold. I can’t afford to be sick. There’s too much to be done. So, last night, I asked the nanny if she would take the overnight shift.
My husband and I were in bed by...

Tell Me it's Not a Fluke
Our 3 year old son attends Montessori school. He has been a student since he was 18 months old. They teach the children to be independent and self reliant. Everything has a specific order to it. Before you begin “work”, you put away your current “work”. We carry through on the Montessori philosophy at home. Everything our son needs is at his level. He can select...

Fix it yourself !! ? ?
I heard Ashley Judd in an interview once use the saying “Childhood is something you spend the rest of your life getting over”. It’s so true.
My husband and I had a conversation over the weekend about kids raised by emotionally unavailable parents. They grow up with detachment issues. It only makes sense that they would. If you had a Mom or Dad that was self centered,...

Scared of the Lunchbox
Oh Boy ! As I’m up this morning making my sons lunch for school, I realize I can’t find his lunchbox. It’s not on the counter. Not in the cabinet where we store it. I looked on the bench in the front hall where I sometimes put stuff when I come in. And Then I remember. I left his lunchbox in the car.
Friday was not a typical day. We picked Noah up from school...
"Back at it" update
Well, I’ve completed my first week “Back at it”. My first run was Monday. Tuesday my legs were really sore. I was told NOT to push it right out of the gate. So I gave my legs a day to recover and ended up running every other day. My food was great:
One day of Food:
7am Oatmeal, cinniman, 1 turkey sausage
10am Protein Shake
1PM Can of Tuna, TLC Crackers - Brussell...
